Human Trafficking has become very common and Russia is one of the countries that are facing this problem. The problem of trafficking was observed in Russia in 1990’s, when Soviet Union collapsed. The collapse of Soviet Union had left severe impact on this newborn country that was in process of establishment. According to article “Human Trafficking In And Out Of Russia - Fair Observer” the author said that “Human trafficking targeted Russia when the country was newly found and the citizens did not have better working opportunities ” (Buckley, par8). The newly independent state started to actively seek the means of livings, in order to survive in their political and social conditions. This struggle somehow resulted into human trafficking, intentionally or unintentionally. Poor economic condition and lack of employment resources forced individuals to into risky behaviors and they became careless. Lack of unemployment made the people to exploit a few rules and regulations that were made in the initial period.
In the next half of 90’s, human trafficking became common and it spread in country. Particular factors that were linked with human trafficking in country were weak law enforcement system, lack of a suitable legislation, lack of literacy, increase of international channels and increase of illegal immigration in country. Mukomel said that “Wild capitalism patterns were the reason behind increased human trafficking in the country” (2) . The country started to be considered as a sending country, usually for “Western European countries and the Middle East” and a receiving and transit country for the citizens of USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). This was the time, when human trafficking became strongly rooted in country. These factors played an important role to attract social scientists that were expert of the immigration field and who started gender studies. The trafficking started increasing and the economic condition in country became even worse as the citizens started putting efforts into negative jobs.
